Steven dropped this on Twitter today, and while I’m not sure if it is true, it certainly feels true.

You Look Nice Today was a beautiful thing. It made me laugh, and it brought a lot of people together, including some of my closest friends.

I still love the work the Talent do on an individual basis. I like Merlin’s thing where he learns to talk to the radio guy on some days and the hobo on others, it’s been amazing watching Adam’s work blossom from a Fishstick into a full slate of videos for nice things, and I’ll always [REDACTED] Scott Simpson [REDACTED] spa getaway [REDACTED] also on Craigslist [REDACTED] once.

But YLNT sure was something special, wasn’t it?

Statement on Ice Cream Sandwich

It’s been no secret that one of the most popular requests I get is for me to eat an Ice Cream Sandwich. With the amount of buzz flying around Ice Cream Sandwich lately, and many of my partners and competitors both talking about and eating Ice Cream Sandwiches, it’s no secret that bringing an Ice Cream Sandwich into my mouth has definitely been something on my radar.

But while supporters have claimed that Ice Cream Sandwich will bring great value and depth to my platform — fattening it up, putting some meat on the platform’s bones, so to speak — there’s still some major technical hurdles before Ice Cream Sandwich will be ready for my consumption.

Actually, it’s just one. I’m allergic to dairy.

So, while I appreciate the demand for Ice Cream Sandwich, I will not be eating one either alone or with my carrier partners for the foreseeable product roadmap ahead. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but I assure you: the Ice Cream Sandwich experience would not be up to my standards of both user experience and not entering anaphylactic shock.

Best,

Lucas Wagner

So Ryan got pretty drunk while I was also pretty drunk and he started taking a lot of photos on his new phone and then he yelled “SIRI TAKE A PHOTO” and started pressing a lot of buttons and he eventually took this great picture of me. Something something circle of life.

(I’m sorry, Scott.)

Why We Like: A Recommendation Engine For Tumblr Users -

scottjacksonx:

Hey again, Tumblr.

Here’s the exciting conclusion of my research project. Now that I know why people Like stuff on Tumblr, I’ve been able to build a recommendation system that I think is a little smarter than most.

Most recommendation sites just look at what you Like. However, we Like things for all sorts of reasons. Should Liking something because it made you laugh contribute the same amount to recommendations as Liking something because you agreed with it? I don’t think so.

My site asks you a few questions about why you’ve clicked that Like button, and takes that into account when it gives you some suh-weet recommendations.

Why We Like only gets better as more people use it. So, if you’d like, find some new new people to follow and tell me whether they’re any good (providing feedback is at the end of the recommendation process).

You get some cool new people to follow, and I get some more data for my thesis — everybody wins!

Please feed Scott’s computer more data. It recommended Fuck Yeah Wedding Ideas, so this thesis still has a ways to go before it is proven. (That’s what a thesis does, right?)
