The Prisoner: “The Chimes of Big Ben”

“Big Ben” is one of my favourite Prisoner episodes, and for good reason: it contains all the elements of the series I love. You’ve got Six being sassy as heck, Two trying to “befriend” Six while plotting his downfall, and a classic contrived plot to escape the Village that comes so close to working — for both Six and Two — followed by a return to the status quo.

It’s not my absolute favourite (see “Hammer and Anvil”), but it’s definitely in my top five purely for its quintessentiality. (Quintessentialness?)
