Unused iPhone App Ideas: “Star Power,” circa April

Sketched this one up (on paper!) just under eight months ago: basically, it was Reverse Birdhouse, insofar as it was just for reading Twitter posts, and not for actually posting anything. The main tab (although I think I might’ve had a thing for re-ordering the tabs) would be your timeline, and there would be a tab for just your favs, and (not in the above iteration) a tab for looking at the favs of your followees, and then a tab for the Favrd leaderboard.

The funny thing is, I never actually used Favrd that much. I’ve always been much more inclined to look at the favourites pages from other people on the Twitter that I follow, and read through those — the rationale being that clever people enjoy starring clever things. It’s kinda like iTunes’ Celebrity Playlists (which are still around, if a bit buried), except the celebrities are just a bunch of witty users of a neat short message service.

Anyway, I abandoned this idea shortly after this mockup, mostly due to having a full-time job during the summer, and I think some video games might’ve come out that week. Or maybe there was a cool-looking piece of tin foil. Who can tell? It’s in the public domain now. If you wanna make it, go for it. But give me a shout if you do. I might just spend a dollar or two on it.

Under the Fuzzy Green Hat is the curious web log of Lucas Wagner, a guy who probably has better things to do than post here all day.
